WELLNESS
DEHYDRATION
It is said that about 75 % of the population is dehydrated. We have had a lot of discussions in the shop about dehydration. I ran into this issue with my husband and his case of vertigo. He went to his doctor and went through a bunch of tests and the diagnosis was dehydration. He never drank water and didn’t want to start drinking water. It was an issue he was very stubborn about.
As I talked to other people they mentioned that their doctors wanted them to drink more water and most of them said that they didn’t, even though they knew they should. As we age, we are even more apt to be dehydrated, and even a little dehydration has a negative effect on your immune system and your overall health. Dehydration is a key component in many illnesses and diseases. It is so important that you drink water and get hydration through the food you eat. Vegetables are 90% water, fruits are 85%, pasta 61% and meat 60%. There is much disagreement on just how much water you should be drinking so check out some of the information online or from your health-care professional.
There are levels of dehydration - mild has the symptoms of thirst, less pee, and dry mouth. Moderate dehydration symptoms are the same as mild but add dizziness, dark pee, headache, dry, cool skin, muscle cramps, and dry cough. Severe dehydration, sunken eyes, faint, and rapid breathing, low blood pressure, and racing heart. Start being aware of how important your daily hydration is for your health. If you are susceptible to dehydration did you know that lemons are ultra-hydrating as they are a top source of mineral salts and trace minerals and are electrolyte-producing. Melons are high in electrolyte content and very hydrating. Also, oranges, tangerines, celery, and cucumbers are very hydrating foods.
REFLEXOLOGY
Friday, November 8th
Sessions available 11 - 4 pm
Reflexology is healing and relaxing. Reflexology can improve your well-being and emotional and spiritual health, reduces pain, and improves sleep. It also stimulates energy, helps with mental stress, detoxes the body, and promotes blood circulation. These sessions are very popular so we recommend you make an appointment for your 15-minute session by calling us at 410-827-0700. A 15-minute session is $20 payable in cash or check. Longer sessions are available.
OPEN DISCUSSION GROUP
Wednesday, November 20th
4 - 5:30 pm
This discussion group is an opportunity to discuss what is on your mind about wellness, alternative medicine, natural healing, Bach Flower Essences, metaphysical topics, emotional issues, and other wellness and life issues. Come and discuss in a safe place what is of interest to you. We are looking for like-minded people to share their wisdom, share their issues, share their stories, their health challenges, and how all the new energies are affecting us at this time. We are meeting in the afternoon because most of the people who are interested in this discussion prefer to meet at this time. We started this group last month and 8 people attended and we had some wonderful sharing and learned a lot from each other!
